How to use Snapchat Filters

Snapchat Filters were introduced as early as the release of Snapchat app on Play Store and the App Store. Filters are layovers that you can add to your photos and videos on Snapchat to add special effects.

A detailed guide on How to use Snapchat Filters has been written in a new post, so we'll just do a quick run-down in this post.

How to get Snapchat Filters

There are 8 Snapchat filters that are available to you by default. These include different color layovers -- sepia, black and white, neon, etc., speed filter, time filter, etc. But there are many snapchat filters besides these that you can access based on your location.

To activate Geofilters, go to your Snapchat Settings > Additional Settings > toggle ON the Filters Option.

Once activated, you will be able to see Geofilters -- custom filters made by people based on your location. For instance, if you're in Sydney, you'll have access to filters that are custom-made for people living in Sydney.

Snapchat Lenses as Filters

Snapchat Lenses are often confused with filters. Lenses are special effects that you can add to your face. Most common Snapchat lenses include the dog filter, flower crown filter, voice changer, face swap filter, etc.

While the correct term for these is 'lenses', we'll use the term 'filters' because this is how most people know it anyway. To access these kind of filters (lenses), go to your camera screen on Snapchat, switch to the front camera, then tap and hold on to the center of the screen until you see little circles called lenses at the bottom of your camera screen.

These little circles are lenses; each of them are packed with different special effects (filters). Switch from one to the other to access all the lenses.
